BHWs seek single function for better performance
MULTI-TASKING A BANE
AFTER the Sangguniang Panlalawigan appealed to local town and city executives to work for the security of tenure of Barangay Health Workers (BHWs), the latter also sought a review of their present multi-faceted functions and to seek a more streamlined duties to be more effective.
This time, the BHWs through their provincial federation, asked the provincial board to adopt a resolution that just assign a single function to BHWs in Pangasinan.
Resolution 03, series of 2021 of the BHW Provincial Federation furnished Sixth District Board Member Noel Bince, decried the multi-functions of BHWs that they are unable to fully cope with their work and duties.
The resolution proposed by BWH provincial federation President Algeria Almojela detailed the current functions of BWHs that include health education, environmental sanitation, first aid, maternal and child care, family planning services, assist patients in going to hospitals and community development services.
The resolution cited the full implementation of the Universal Health Care law that tasks BHWs as navigators which will further add bigger and more responsibilities.
