Bangus Festival April 30, declared non-working holiday

IT will be a special non-working holiday in Dagupan City on April 30 for the celebration of the Bangus Festival.

The declaration was contained in Proclamation No. 1133 signed on April 16 by Executive Secretary Salvador Medialdea, by authority of President Rodrigo Duterte.

The proclamation was sought by Dagupan City Mayor Brian Lim in his earlier letter to Malacanang.

Medialdea granted the request to allow residents of Dagupan City the opportunity to celebrate its annual festival subject, however, to community quarantine, social distancing and health measures in view of the pandemic.

The city government skipped the Bangus Festival last year when Luzon was placed under Enhanced Community Quarantine (ECQ) and lockdowns were ordered when the pandemic had just started.

However, there has been no announcement of scheduled activities and programs for the celebration of this year’s Bangus Festival. (Leonardo Micua/Eva Visperas)
