THE Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) Pangasinan provincial office collected P292,500 in fines for violation in the province from seven business establishments caught violating ‘Product Standards Laws, Rules and Regulations’.

DTI-Pangasinan director Natalia Dalaten said the collected fines were forwarded to the national treasury.

“Most of the violations of the standard were found in electrical appliances that did not have import commodity clearance and construction materials that were substandard,” Dalaten  said.

“We are for a development approach but we do not tolerate violations,” she said.

For their efforts to protect consumers, the DTI Pangasinan office was recently cited as the top agency in DTI.

Meanwhile, Dalaten said DTI is partnering with manufacturers and distributors of basic and prime commodities to sell some of their products below the suggested retail prices in remote areas.
