Inbound tourists urged to register online

WITH the relaxation of quarantine protocols, and the week-long Holy Week observance, the Pangasinan Provincial Tourism and Cultural Affairs Office (PTCAO) gears up for the influx of tourists to the province’s popular destinations.

Malu Elduayan, PTCAO chief, said while local government units are expected to set their respective registration requirements and policies for tourists in their areas, she encouraged would-be tourists to register in region1.tarana.ph, a website hosted by the Department of Tourism to log and record visitors, to ease contact tracing of health authorities.

She discouraged visitors from traveling without reservations for hotel accommodations, and instead book their reservations before setting out.

To ensure their satisfaction and fun vacation, Elduayan urged tourists to avail of tour services of local tour operators and/or tour guides in the province. “This will also benefit our local tour guides”, she added.

Tour guides were one of the most affected sectors since the lockdown imposed on March 2020 because of the COVID-19 pandemic.

With the opening of tourism in the province, Elduayan hopes the industry and the stakeholders will have the opportunities to recover from the meltdown. (Ahikam Pasion)
