Fourth District RHUs have more, better equipment
THROUGH the help of Rep. Christopher de Venecia, all the Rural Health Units (RHUs) in the Fourth District of Pangasinan are now more equipped and can now effectively deliver basic health services to their respective targeted clienteles.
De Venecia provided the much needed medical equipment and facilities to the RHUs of Mangaldan, San Jacinto, Manaoag, San Fabian and Dagupan City to ensure that they can expand their services to their constituents needing medical help, especially to the less fortunate ones.
On January 30. De Venecia delivered an ECG (Echo Cardiogram) apparatus and foldable stretcher to the Mangaldan RHU and Hemoglobinometer, suction and EENT (Eye, Ear Nose and Throat) diagnostics to the San Jacinto RHU.
All these are in addition to the medical equipment, paraphernalia and facilities delivered by the Department of Health (DOH) to the two RHUs, facilitated by Congressman de Venecia.
Among these were a hospital bed, instrument cabinet, air conditioning unit, generator set, weighing scale, instrument table with detachable mattress, fetal Doppler, pulse odometer, dressing cart complete with accessories, dental instrument and others.
The other RHUs in Manaoag and San Fabian and the City Health Office in Dagupan City were already recipients of such facilities, delivered to them by DOH through the help of De Venecia.
De Venecia thanked the DOH headed by Secretary Francisco T. Duque III for allowing the RHUs in the Fourth District to strengthen their capacities so they can respond to the medical needs of their respective target clienteles, thereby preventing the crowding of patients at the Region 1 Medical Center in Dagupan City.
Meanwhile, De Venecia expressed hope that the construction of a new RHU in San Fabian in Barangay Inmalog Sur, which he is helping to build will be completed soon. The new San Fabian RHU is located beside the Bikers Den which De Venecia also helped build.
During a program at radio station DZMQ, De Venecia also expressed hope that the seven-storey building being constructed at R1MC will be completed soon to ensure R1MC’s expansion from 300 bed to 600 bed as mandated in a law authored by his mother, then Congresswoman Gina de Venecia.
Completion of the new structure will prevent the serious overcrowding of RIMC whose patients had to be accommodated even at the aisles between wards due to shortage of rooms.
Phase I of the project, which is now ongoing, involves the construction of only the building’s foundation. (Leonardo Micua)
