TO REOPEN TOURISM

THE provincial government and the Department of Tourism Region 1 launched the online visitors registration system (OVRS) to support the reopening of tourism destinations to tourists in the province.

The online registration will upload tourists’ information for visitor management and contact tracing simplifying the entry and travel movements of tourists who want to visit and explore Pangasinan’s tourist destinations.

The Provincial Tourism and Cultural Affairs Office (PTCAO) held the first of a series of orientation-workshop on January 21 at the Pangasinan Training and Development Center (PTDC). II was attended by tourism officers, police personnel and first batch of IT staff of San Fabian, Manaoag, Alaminos City and Bolinao, tour operators and travel agency.

Department of Tourism regional director Joseph Francisco Ortega commended the provincial government’s support in helping re-launch the tourism industry amid the COVID-19 pandemic.

Ortega said while the reopening of the tourism industry is encouraging, he advised stakeholders to strictly comply with the health and safety protocols to safeguard the welfare of the tourists.

The tourism regional director also encouraged all local government units to ensure the safety of every tourist as the province re-opens its industry.

Under the new system, incoming tourist appointments via the OVRS will be monitored by the town and city governments while incoming tourists passing through the borders will be monitored by the Philippine National Police. (PIO/ CIV, SMDG)
