Pangasinan LGUs cited for competitiveness

MORE local government units (LGUs) in Pangasinan have made it to the Top 20 ranking nationwide in the 2020 Cities and Municipalities Competitiveness Index (CMCI) of the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI).

Regional Director Grace Falgui-Baluyan said the LGUs in Pangasinan excelled in four competitiveness pillars – economic dynamism, government efficiency, infrastructure, and resiliency under different categories.

“Competitiveness impacts to the ability to reproduce products and services. The more business enterprise locating in the region increases possible contribution to national GDP,” Baluyan  said

Cited for Economic Dynamism- Sison (3rd) and Tayug (7th); Government Efficiency- Dagupan City (19th); Infrastructure -Tayug  (10th); Resiliency -Natividad (15th)  and Calasiao (20th).

Most Improved LGUs nationwide- Alaminos City (6th); San Manuel at (11th); Urdaneta City (15th) and Basista (17).

Component cities – Dagupan City (1st) in government efficiency and infrastructure and (2nd)  in economic and over-all competitiveness; San Carlos City (2nd) and Urdaneta City(3rd) in resiliency component.

1st to 2nd class municipalities – Bayambang (1s)t in government efficiency and (3rd) in resiliency and infrastructure; Calasiao (2nd) in resiliency and (3rd) in government efficiency and over-all competitiveness; Rosales (2nd) in infrastructure category.

3rd-4th class municipalities –  Tayug (1st) in Infrastructure and (2nd) in economic dynamism and over-all competitiveness; Sison (1st) in economic dynamism; Natividad (3rd) in resiliency.

5th and 6th class –  Sto. Tomas.

The most improved municipalities in the region – San Manuel (1st) in 2nd class, and Basista (3rd) in-4th class.

Early Bird Special award for early submission of local data capture and annexes – Bayambang (1st) in  2nd class.

Gov. Amado Espino III, represented by Pubic Employment and Service Office Manager Alex Ferrer, congratulated  the awardees and lauded the DTI as its dynamic partner in realizing the country’s goal for local competitiveness. (PIA/VHS)
