OPERATIVES of Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA), reinforced by the Philippine National Police (PNP) arrested five individuals in a buy-bust operation and eventually dismantled a drug den in Barangay Lasip Grande in Dagupan City.

Retchie Camacho, PDEA-Pangasinan assistant provincial officer and operation team leader identified the suspects as Alejandro Paragas, Rollie Melendez, Normito Javier, Rodelio Maniacop, and Joel Inocentes, all residents of Barangay Lasip Grande.

Paragas, the target of the buy-bust operation, also turned out to be the drug den maintainer.

A poseur-buyer bought one heat-sealed transparent plastic sachet containing shabu, worth P2,000.

After the exchange and arrest, the operatives later noticed other persons in a room in the middle of a ‘shabu’ session, prompting them to arrest them as suspects, too.

The operation resulted in the discovery and confiscation of three more sachets of suspected shabu, with a total weight of 11 grams with a street value of P74, 800.

Other drug paraphernalia, along with a cellphone, and ID, and cash amounting to P290 in different denominations were seized.

As of this writing, the suspects remain under PDEA custody. They are set to be sent to the PDEA Regional Office in San Fernando City, La Union for further interrogation, and filing of charges in violation of Sections 5, 6, 7, 11, 12, and 15 of Republic Act 9165.

Authorities consider this as a High-Impact Operation (HIO), after the discovery and dismantling of a drug den in the city. (Ahikam Pasion)
