Bayambang conducts free lessons for Grades 7 to10
FACE-TO-FACE SYSTEM TO BOOST DISTANCE LEARNING
BAYAMBANG’S local government has launched its Community-Based Distance Learning Enhancement Program to help students in Grades 7 to 10 in this time of pandemic through of face-to-face learning.
At the launching of the program in Barangay Inanlorenza, Mayor Cezar Quiambao said the enhancement program classes are focused on English, Math and Science subjects.
They will use educational video materials made by a team from the Bayambang Poverty Reduction Action Team (BPRAT) led by Rafel Saygo, based on materials written by the content creators to compliment the learning modules of the Department of Education.
Some 200 students have been attending the classes that started on Nov. 3 and being held in a well-ventilated covered court. The students and teachers are required to wear face masks, face shields and observe social distancing.
The students are grouped according to their grade level and classes are held on the following schedules: 8:00 to 11:00 a.m. and 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. every Friday for Grades 7 and 8 respectively and the same time slots on Saturday for Grades 9 and 10 respectively.
On Nov. 11, the same project was launched in Barangay Hermosa.
Both areas where the classes are held, are disinfected regularly.
“Education is the key to fight poverty in our town,” Quiambao said.
The local government unit has hired six teachers from private schools to teach the students.
Quiambao said he believes that face-to-face learning remains the best efficient way of teaching-learning. He sought everybody’s cooperation to ensure the success of the project.
The town has 77 barangays and the local government plans to launch the program in as many barangays as possible. (PhilStar Wire Service/ECV)
