DENGUE cases in Pangasinan have decreased by 53%, according to data gathered by the Provincial Health Office (PHO) from January 1 to November 23, compared to last year’s data for the same period.

Dr. Anna de Guzman, provincial health officer, said this year dengue recorded only 4,217 cases, against last year’s 8,950 cases.

However, despite the decrease in the number of cases, there were 14 deaths recorded compared to last year’s 13 deaths.

De Guzman said the towns of Bugallon, Umingan, Dasol, and Aguilar are in PHO’s watch list due to high cases recorded: Bugallon has 265 dengue cases higher than the 262 recorded cases last year while Umingan has 175 cases this year compared to the 153 cases in 2019 on the same year.

Despite the decrease, De Guzman urged the public to continue keeping their surroundings clean in order to prevent not only dengue, but other sickness as well. (Ahikam Pasion/Jerick Pasiliao)
