SOME 2,079 persons have been arrested and charged since March 16 for violating different rules under the protocol established for the Extreme Enhanced Community Quarantine (EECQ) in the province.

P/Major Jose Abaya II, chief of the PPPO Police Community Affairs and Development Branch, said 1,479 persons were arrested for violating the curfew.

“Aside from curfew violators, we were also able to arrest individuals for illegal gambling, overpricing or profiteering of commodities and violation of Article 151 of the Revised Penal Code, (RPC)” he said.

Abaya said, 359 persons were arrested and charged for illegal gambling; 235 for the violation of the RPC and six individuals for profiteering.

He pointed out that no one has so far been arrested for not wearing face masks since  the Sangguniang Panlalawigan enacted the ordinance mandatory wearing of face masks in public places on Apr. 8.

“Hopefully, we won’t have to arrest persons without face masks as the EECQ continues,” he said.

Gov. Amado Espino, III signed on Tuesday the Executive Order 0019-2020 extending anew the extreme enhanced community quarantine in Pangasinan until midnight of Apr. 21, 2020. (Jerick Pasiliao)
