Beware of jellyfish sting during rainy season

THE City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (CDRRMO) has cautioned visitors to Tondaligan Beach about swimming in deeper parts of the Blue Beach owing to presence of jellyfish during the rainy season.
CDRRMO chief Ronaldo De Guzman issued the warning as he confirmed that jellyfish usually gather at the shorelines during rainy days as he confirmed that several beach goers have been stung by jellyfish.
“This is the time when jelly fish abound in the coastal water so beach goers are advised to forego swimming while it is still raining,“ said De Guzman.
CDRRMO’s first aid responders reported six cases of jelly fish sting on August 19, another 10 on August 20 and 34 on August 21.
He also advised swimmers not to get close to the floating buoys and to always follow warnings and instructions of lifeguards and to avoid drinking liquor when planning to swim. (Joseph C. Bacani/CIO)
