Alaminos, Villasis, Sta. Maria: 2016 “Cleanest & Safest” LGUs
LINGAYEN– The 2015 Search for the Cleanest, Safest and Greenest City/ Municipality and Barangay culminated with the presentation of awards by Gov. Amado Espino III to the winners on November 10 at the Sison Auditorium.
Adjudged winners in Category A (1st to 3rd class municipalities) are: Villasis, first place; Tayug, second place; and Bolinao, third place.
In Category B (4th and 5th class municipalities): Sta. Maria, first place; Sto. Tomas, second place; and Balungao, third place.
In Category C (component cities): Alaminos City, first place; Urdaneta City, second place, and San Carlos City, third place.
In Category D (barangays): Barangay Arnedo in Bolinao, first place; Barangay Bal-loy in Sta. Maria and Barangay Ariston East in Asingan, won second and third place respectively.
Prize ranges from P30,000, P40,000 and P50,000 (runners-up to champion) for the winning barangays while winners under municipalities and component cities category took home P50,000, P75,000 and P100,000 (runners-up to champion).
Espino commended all winning LGUs and urged others to do better next time and to continue working to protect and care for the environment.
A strong advocate of environmental protection, the Governor initiated the 4 o’clock habit conducted every Friday afternoon that require provincial government employees to participate in cleaning and clearing certain areas at the Lingayen beachfront. (PIO)
