UL, PhilCST in finals for title

DEFENDING champions University of Luzon (UL) Golden Tigers swept all its games and automatically face second placer Philippine Colleges of Science and Technology (PhilCST) Topnotch in the best-of-three championship series of the 2016 PRISAA inter-collegiate basketball tournament dubbed this year as “Gov. Amado “Pogi” Espino III Cup.”

According to the league commissioner Manny Gatchalian, the finals hostilities start on October 17 at the Dagupan People’s Astrodome.

UL and PhilCST expected to clash at 2:30 p.m. while Colegio de Dagupan (CdD) will mix it up with Pangasinan Merchant Marine Academy (PAMMA) Warriors for third place in a knockout match at 1:00 p.m.

Like in the past, the Bryon Vidal-mentored Golden Tigers will again rely on its five key players Reynald Ballesteros, Brandon Vinluan, Julius Catuday, Mario Torio and Ismael Sarmiento while Topnotch, will mainly depend on its marquee dribblers Renz Abando, Gernet Asuncion, Francisco dela Pena, Efren Boado and Paolo Acosta.
