Espino cites legacy of excellence
LINGAYEN- The legacy of excellence in governance of Pangasinan has been affirmed with the 2016 Seal of Good Local Governance (SGLG) presented by the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) to the provincial government under the leadership of Gov. Amado Espino III.
Gov. Espino, who received the award from DILG Secretary Ismael Sueno and Senator Sonny Angara on October 27 at the Sofitel Philippine Plaza in Manila, expressed elation over the recent feat of the province.
Espino said the timing of the award came on the heels of his 100-Day achievement report and credited the past administration headed by then Gov. Amado Espino Jr., his father, and now 5th District Representative. He said his administration is bent to continue and sustain the best practices and programs of his predecessor while conceptualizing new platforms to address the new challenges in the province.
Secretary Sueno, in his letter to the governor, said Pangasinan passed all the minimum parameters of the SGLG’s core components namely: financial administration, social protection and disaster preparedness.
LGU Pangasinan also passed three essential areas of the program such as business friendliness and competitiveness, peace and order, and environmental management, with flying colors.
Pangasinan has been a consistent recipient of DILG awards under the stewardship of Cong. Espino, then the governor, even before the SGLG was then called as Seal of Good Housekeeping (SGH) award.
The SGLG is an upgraded version of the SGH, a brainchild of former DILG secretary Jesse Robredo. (PIO)
