THE Dagupan City government received the 2016 Seal of Good Local Governance (SGLG) on October 27 during the SGLG National Conferment Ceremony at the Sofitel Philippine Plaza Manila in Pasay City.

It was the city’s second SGLG award (or Pagkilala sa Katapatan at Kahusayan ng Pamahalaang Lokal) since the program was launched in 2015.

The award was received by Mayor Belen T. Fernandez from Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) Secretary Ismael D. Sueno during the awarding ceremony.

The mayor was accompanied by DILG-Dagupan City Director Rhoderick Dawis.

The award was earned by the city government after it again obtained high ratings in the core components, namely: 1) Financial Administration or Good Financial Housekeeping; 2) Social Protection; and 3) Disaster Preparedness.

The city government also met the criteria set in all three areas: 1) Business Friendliness and Competitiveness; 2) Peace and Order; and 3) Environmental Management.

DILG Secretary Sueno congratulated the city government for being able to sustain its remarkable performance and commitment “as we both endeavor to carry on our journey towards tapat at mahusay na pamahalaang local.”

For this year’s award, the city government will have access to the Performance Challenge Fund and other program windows subject to specific program guidelines.

The city is also expected to earn the Seal of Good Financial Housekeeping (SGFH) from DILG as the city was in the official list of 2016 SGFH passers as of October 1, 2016. (With report from CIO)
