Comelec: “Smooth transaction” in Pangasinan polls

LINGAYEN— The provincial election supervisor and chairman of the Provincial Board of Canvassers (PBOC) of Pangasinan, Atty. Joel Gines, described the voting process in the province as “smooth transaction.”

He cited the seamless function of the SD cards and the availability of contingency VCMs (vote-counting machine) that quickly replaced units that malfunctioned.

Gines said only minor problems, mostly paper jams, were encountered in the polling precincts all over the province and were taken care of immediately by replacement of the VCMs.

He said 29 contingency VCMs were made available at the Comelec provincial office in addition to the two or three contingency VCMs provided each town.

He attributed the “smooth transaction” for the early proclamation of many winning provincial bets on May 10. (Johanne Macob)
