De Venecia declared her all-out support during the Barangay Night celebration in Mangaldan town as part of the annual town fiesta celebration on March 6. Her endorsement is considered a big boost to the gubernatorial and vice gubernatorial bids of Cojuangco and Macanlalay respectively as the De Venecias are known to win overwhelmingly in every election.

Sa Pangasinan naman, ang aking ini-endorse ay ang kandidatura nila Mark Cojuangco for governor at Mark Macanlalay for vice governor (In Pangasinan, meanwhile, I am endorsing the candidacy of Mark Cojuangco for governor and Mark Macanlalay for vice governor),” de Venecia said, to the cheers of the people.

De Venecia shared her observation that majority of prominent politicians in the province down to the barangay levels, that Cojuangco enjoys a good name in public service.

She said, “ Si Mark Cojuangco po ay walang bahid ng corruption. Siya rin ang pag-asa natin para dumating ang malalaking investment sa Pangasinan dahil siya ay progresibo kung mag-isip (Mark Cojuangco is not tainted with corruption. He is our hope so that big investments would arrive in Pangasinan because he is a progressive thinker).”

She added that this is evident in his big projects like the dairy farm in Laoac and his major projects of palay drying facilities in Villasis and Alcala towns.

De Venecia also vouched for Cojuangco’s integrity, saying, “Kilala ko po si Mark at alam kong disente at mabait siyang tao. (I know Mark and he is a decent and kind person).”

She added that she and her husband, former five-time House Speaker Jose de Venecia Jr, have been friends with Mark’s parents, former ambassador and business tycoon Eduardo “Danding” Cojuangco Jr. and Gretchen Cojuangco.

Mark was one of the young congressmen whom JDV guided when he was a speaker, she added.

De Venecia also threw her support behind Macanlalay whom she described as someone who is also a progressive thinker and known as the builder of modern Calasiao.

“Under his able administration, Calasiao became an investment hub in Pangasinan because it became a home for big investments like Puregold, Robinson’s Mall and other motor companies.

During the Barangay Night, Cojuangco, Macanlalay and De Venecia were busy meeting all the barangay folks who graced the happy event.

He got a rousing applause from the barangay folks when he said, “Kailanman hindi po namin kayo bobolahin at makakasigurado po kayo dahil hindi ko po kailangan maging isang gobernador para magpayaman pa ng sarili, na pangangalagaan po namin ang kaban ng Pangasinan para maramdaman nyo, sa lahat ng kasuluk–sulokang barangay, ang lahat ng programa ng ating gobyernong pamprobinsya. (We will never fool you and you can rest assure that I don’t need to run for governor to enrich myself, that we will take care of the provincial coffers so that you can feel, up to the remotest barangays, all the programs of the provincial government)”.

He said if he wins, he will use the office of the governor “not to abuse, nor take advantage, but to deliver dedicated services and programs to all Pangasinenses”.
