CALASIAO—A 27-year old incumbent councilor has challenged his uncle in the mayoralty race as he led the team under the Liberal Party (LP) to file their candidacy last week.

Joseph Arman Bauzon, LP’s mayoralty candidate is running against his uncle incumbent vice mayor Roy Macanlalay.

Bauzon said his team is eyeing for a change in politics, new perspective, new governance, and new breeds of public servants for the town.

“I believe in public service, age doesn’t matter as our town mates urged me and my team to run against the Macanlalay’s who have been in power for 15 years”, said Bauzon who started as the Association of Barangay Captains (ABC) president in the town at age 19.

He added, “Although the business in our town is booming, it is not as good in terms of services rendered to the people”.

Bauzon is running with Ferdinand Galang, former vice mayor and Roberto Jorgio, Felise De Vera, Mahadeva Das Mesina, Mark Paolo Caspillan, John Benedict Acosta, Melecio Sapiera, Tommy Sison, Rogelio Danoli as councilors.

Meanwhile, Macanlalay is running with Narciso Chuson Jr. and Manny Datuin, Reynaldo Chuson, Jerome Gabrillo, Lina Muñoz, Dennis Torio, Teresita Uson, Jerald Navarro, Gerald Aficial, Samson Tuliao as councilors under the Nationalist People’s Coalition (NPC)/ Biskeg.

Aside from Bauzon and Macanlalay, an independent candidate Florante Gabat is also aspiring for the mayoralty post while Atty. Virgilio Manipud is an independent candidate running for vice mayor. (Hilda Austria)
