BAYAMBANG—The police immediately formed a special investigation task group to probe and solve the gun slay on Sept. 23 at 9:00 a.m. of a district supervisor of the Department of Education along Barangay Tambac this town.

P/Superintendent Gregorio Galsim, town police chief, told The PUNCH that Henry Lamsen dela Cruz, 46, married, district supervisor of Bayambang Central School and a resident of Barangay Taloyan, Malasiqui town, was driving his car on his way to report to his office when two unidentified motorcycle-riding hitmen shot him.

The gunmen managed to escape.

Galsim said Dela Cruz was hit in the left upper shoulder from a caliber .45 as evidenced by three empty shells recovered at the crime scene. He died while being treated in Bayambang District Hospital.

The authorities also found P37,000 cash, assorted identification cards, 13 live ammunitions of caliber .38, and one slug of unknown firearm in the victim’s vehicle.

The motive behind the shooting is still being ascertained even as Galsim said the police are looking at the victim’s work and personal life. Being a district supervisor, he has many areas under his jurisdiction and Bayambang Central School is one of them.

Dela Cruz’s gun slay came less than a week after former Bayambang mayor Leocadio de Vera was wounded in a gun attack on Sept. 17. (Tita Roces/Johanne Macob)
