MVUC funds P20M road projects in Mangatarem, Asingan

LINGAYEN— When you register your vehicle in Pangasinan, the motor vehicle users charge (MVUC) or the special local road fund (SLRF) you pay accrues to the construction and improvement of road projects in Pangasinan.

For last year’s collection, the province will have an allocation of P20-million-worth of road projects this year under the MVUC for the implementation. It represents 5% of all monies collected under the SLRF, in accordance to with the vehicle population and size of road network under their respective jurisdiction, and which fund shall be under DPWH.

Pangasinan has been granted an allocation for two provincial road projects: concrete paving of Olo-Naguilayan Road in Mangatarem and the concrete paving of Asingan-San Manuel-Agno Gorge Road in Asingan.

To effect the implementation, the provincial board approved resolution no. 1357-2015, which authorized Governor Amado Espino Jr. to enter into and sign in behalf of the province of Pangasinan the memorandum of agreement (MOA) with the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) for the implementation SLRF under R.A. No. 8794, also known as the MVUC law. (Johanne Macob)
