Dagupan receives P700K livelihood assistance from Gina and DSWD

MAYOR Belen T. Fernandez thanked Congresswoman Manay Gina De Venecia and the Department of Social Welfare and Development for making Dagupan as one of the beneficiaries of the Self Employment Assistance-Kaunlaran Program amounting to P700, 000.

The turn-over of check last February 26 was attended by former House Speaker Jose De Venecia, Jr., mayors from Mangaldan, San Fabian, Manaoag, San Jacinto, Dagupan and DSWD Regional Director Marcelo Nicomedes Castillo.

Fernandez said that a total of 140 indigent women in Dagupan will benefit from the program where each will get P5, 000 as seed capital assistance to start their own business and help improve their family’s income.

She added that the city government has already trained some women, mostly mothers on food processing under Project B.E.L.E.N or Better Education and Livelihood for Employment Needs (Project BELEN).

Aside from the training, the city government will also help in the selling their products and they will be provided space in the soon to open Product Center.
