LINGAYEN—This month, October, barangay officials are expected to organize and conduct a “Barangay Assembly” to inform their constituents of the status of their activities and projects for the last six months, and future plans for the barangay.

The barangay chairman sets the date and venue and informs the village folks about the event. Among the regular items for discussion are the status of the barangay’s compliance with the Disaster and Risk Reduction Management Act and the Solid Waste Management Act.

Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) provincial director Reggie Colisao said the Barangay Assembly Day, scheduled every March and October, is like a state of the nation, the province, and the city/municipality address.
