40,000 Dagupan kids get polio, measles immunization

THE numbers are in.

The Dagupan City health office reported that 39,095 children were immunized through ‘Ligtas sa Tigdas’, a nationwide campaign of the Department of Health (DOH) from September 1 to 30.

City Health Officer Dr. Leonard L. Carbonell gave the following breakdown: 18,166 children from nine months to five years or 87.66 percent who were provided with Measles-Rubella Vaccines (MRV) and 20,979 children aged 0 to 5 years old or 86.47 percent who were given Oral Polio Vaccine (OPV) during the 30-day mass immunization period.

The top 10 barangays with the most number of children provided with the MRVs  were Bonuan Gueset, 2288; Pantal, 1761;  Bonuan Boquig, 1,407; Bonuan Binloc, 1035 ; Lucao, 990;  Malued, 956 ; Mayombo, 823; Calmay, 795; Caranglaan, 703; and Pugaro, 626.

The same barangays recorded the most number of children provided with OPVs: Bonuan Gueset, 2,627; Pantal, 2,198; Bonuan Boquig, 1,574; Bonuan Binloc, 1, 137; Lucao, 1,109;  Malued, 1,072; Mayombo, 1000; Calmay, 920; Caranglaan, 825; and Pugaro, 698.

Carbonell said the city health office also provided 213 children with MRV and another 322 children with OPV. (CIO)
