LINGAYEN—Two more projects of the Second Pangasinan Engineering District of the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) will not be completed as scheduled by the end of the year owing to technical problems.

This was disclosed by newly-reinstalled Second Highway district engineer Rodolfo Dion, recently the highway district engineer of Candon City in Ilocos Sur.

Dion said the construction of the Lucao Bridge II in Lucao, Dagupan City and the Phase 1 of the bridge along the boundary of San Fabian and Bonuan in Dagupan are basic problems that include with changes in design, relocation of transmission lines and electric posts along the existing road right of way.

Dion took over from Yolanda Tangco who earlier said that two bridge projects of the DPWH in the second district will be delayed owing to power transmission lines that lie on the road’s right of way.
She identified the ongoing San Jose Bridge Phase 1 construction in Brgy. Baay, Lingayen; and Quiray Bridge replacement in Aguilar.

Tangco said the DPWH national office has already issued an order prohibiting utility service provider-companies from setting up their transmission wires and cables within the DPWH road right of way in order not to delay government projects. (Johanne R. Macob)
