LINGAYEN-—One of the incorporators of PH Trams whose name was dragged into the controversial Metro Rail Transit (MRT) 3 expansion project finally received his confirmation as provincial accountant.

Arturo Soriano, who has been the officer-in-charge at the provincial accounting office for three years, was subjected to intensive questioning by Sixth District Board Member Alfonso Bince Jr. about his role in the controversial project prior to his confirmation.

Bince said Soriano had to account for his involvement in the MRT project as alleged in media reports.

Soriano told the board that he had divested his share in PH Trams and resigned before the bidding for the maintenance contract of the Department of Transportation and Communication’s MRT-3 expansion project.

His niece is the wife of MRT general manager Al Vitangcol III who was relieved from his post following the investigation on the controversy. (Tita Roces, PIA))
