THE cities of Urdaneta and Dagupan outperformed other cities in Region 1, including cities in the whole northern Luzon in  2013 in terms of Locally Sourced Income (LSI).

Notably, Urdaneta became the only city in the north whose LSI exceeded its internal revenue allotment (IRA) for the year.

The rated performance was based on their LSI in proportion to its estimated annual regular income (AR).

A report of the Bureau of Local Government Finance (BLGF), an agency under the Department of Finance, showed Urdaneta, which attained cityhood 17 years ago, collected SLI in the amount of P326,050,365. The amount is 53.4 percent of its AR totaling P608,221,891.
Urdaneta’s IRA last year was P282,171,526 or 46.6 percent of its AR.

Dagupan City ranks second having generated 48.2 percent LSI as compared to its AR, with a local revenue collection in the amount of P274,879,575 as compared to its 2013 AR amounting to P570,859,801,

Dagupan’s IRA share last year was P295,990,225, comprising 51.8 percent of its last year’s AR.
Shares of Urdaneta and Dagupan in their respective LSIs were rated even higher in proportion to the regular annual revenue than the highly urbanized city of Baguio in the Cordillera Autonomous Region 44% LSI.

Tuguegarao in Region II is fourth highest in Northern Luzon with 42.1 percent LSI at P230,082,100 over its AR for the year.

San Fernando City posted 34.15 percent LSI or P165,762,069 over its AR of P486,705,860.

Alaminos City which became a city 13 years ago, registered an LSI of P91,299,639 in 2013 or 25.1 percent of its AR.

San Carlos City registered the lowest SLI in Pangasinan and the third lowest in Region I at 17.4 percent or P75.886.105 against its IRA of P361,338.698 constituting 82.6 percent for a total AR of P437,224,733.- LVM
