13 Chinese nationals arrested sans documents

URDANETA CITY—Thirteen undocumented Chinese nationals, five of them females, were arrested Wednesday afternoon by agents of the Bureau of Immigration for illegally working as store attendants for one establishment located inside a shopping mall in Urdaneta City.

They admitted that they are nationals of the People’s Republic of China (PROC) and were working at the second floor of 168 Mall Public Market which was raided by BI agents at 3:30 p.m. on June 18.

Those identified with no documents are Wang Washuang, Xu Wanyu and Shi Yingyin, all female; Qui Shangfu, Wang Jinlong and Zhang Weinan.

With passport but whose tourist visa had expired is Zhang Xuizhen while Wu Yunyin showed an expired passport. Both are female.

With passports but have no working permits are Wang Jianmin, Wang Zhihe Caoi Dongri and Cai Ronghan who arrived only on April 7, 2014. All the arrested foreigners were brought to the BI field office in Dagupan City for documentation purposes.

BI admitted it is also monitoring some 1,000 foreign students enrolled in 50 accredited schools in Pangasinan who do not have special study permit. The foreign students taking non-degree courses were also encouraged to secure civil visa. – (LVM with report from Willie Lomibao)
