CIDG aims heightened operations vs. crimes
LINGAYEN–The Pangasinan Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) is strengthening its operations against crimes in the province.
Police Chief Inspector Lucrecio Lotho Rodrigueza, the new CIDG head who assumed the post last month, told the media last week that despite their limited manpower with only four personnel at the headquarters and five each at the satellite offices in Dagupan City and Urdaneta City, they intend to make maximum impact in curbing criminality.
In its January to April 2014 report, the provincial CIDG arrested one member of the organized crime group called VISTRO Group suspect in Urbiztondo last January.
Further, 19 wanted persons were arrested in 17 operations while three were captured out of six operations against private armed groups.
Loose firearms seized within the period were four high-powered (caliber 30, unit 12 shot gun, caliber 45 government model, and caliber 45 pistol colt combat commander), one low-powered (rifle), 93 assorted live ammunitions, two magazines each for caliber 4 and caliber 45 pistol, and one holster for caliber 45.
Other accomplishments included the arrest of ten cobradores; two arrested for illegal drugs and confiscation of seven transparent heat sealed sachet containing substance suspected to be ‘shabu.’
Rodrigueza said he targets the enforcement of least eight search warrants and 24 warrants of arrest per month.–Johanne R. Macob
