CHESS ACADEMY

Meanwhile, provincial information officer Orpheus Velasco announced that the planned chess academy to be housed at the Narciso Ramos Sports and Civic Center will be open by the summer season next year.

Velasco said the academy will sustain the development of chess players citing how the chess clinics and tournaments regularly held in the province for the last five years had sharpened the skills of local players as evidenced by their victories in national and international events.
To boost the claim, provincial sports director Modesto Operania said the province has two representatives — Revita and Fernando Mendoza – in the chess event of the 2013 Batang Pinoy National Games.–Johanne R. Macob
