SP confirms Baraan, Baniqued, Velasco reappointments

LINGAYEN—The Sangguniang Panlalawigan (SP) has confirmed the reappointment of three department heads for another three years of service.
Appointed anew are Provincial Administrator Rafael Howard Baraan, Provincial Legal Officer Geraldine Baniqued, and Public Information Officer Orpheus Velasco, whose positions are co-terminus with that of Governor Amado Espino Jr., who won a third and final term in the May 13 election.
“This is the winning team of Espino, from 2006-2013, and from 2013-2016,” said SP member Ranjit Shahani of the three during the first regular board session of the 8th SP.
He said that with the same set of people supporting the provincial government, “I think the poverty rate will drop even more in the next 1,000 days or the next three years.”
Meanwhile, Vice Governor Jose Ferdinand Calimlim Jr., who chairs the SP, vowed in his inaugural speech during the session to “protect and preserve” the greater good of Pangasinan and its people through the legislations that they will tackle and approve in their sessions..–Johanne R. Macob
