CALASIAO—The Liberal Party (LP) held a caucus for the first time here Monday with three local groups to plan strategies for the campaign period which will start for local candidates next month.

“It was a coordination meeting among three groups working for Team Braganza, Team Lomibao and Pangasinan Muna Movement,” retired Philippine National Police Chief, Arturo Lomibao, LP’s vice gubernatorial bet, told The PUNCH.

“It is a show of force by the LP in Pangasinan,” Lomibao added.

Former Vice Governor Oscar Lambino, LP Pangasinan spokesman, said the presence of former Gov. Victor Agbayani, LP provincial chairman in the meeting “speaks a thousand words”.

A week earlier, Agbayani gave way to Alaminos City Mayor Hernani Braganza, the party’s gubernatorial bet, as his campaign manager although he remains with the LP.

“What I gave up is as overall campaign manager because I believe it is the candidate who can best direct the general campaign but I remain as Liberal Party chairman and as chairman, I shall perform all electoral matters related to the party especially this election from the provincial to municipal level or when the LP senatorial candidates come to visit us,” Agbayani said.

“Rest assured my full and complete support is with the LP and the candidates of this party,” said Agbayani.

Braganza, for his part, said, “For the record, up to now, Gov. Agbayani and I are still holding hands.” —Eva Visperas
