SP honors ex-Councilor Aisa

LINGAYEN—The late Maria Isabel “Aisa” dela Cruz-Villacorta, who served as municipal councilor and interim president of the Philippine Councilors’ League (PCL)-Pangasinan Chapter, was honored by the Sangguniang Panlalawigan (SP) for her contributions to the development of her hometown Manaoag.

In Resolution No. 1550-2012 passed last week, the SP gave recognition to the 52-year old Villacorta, who passed away last November 26 while serving her sixth term, for being “instrumental in the passage and enactment of legislative measures which contributed to the development and progress of the municipality and its people.”

Villacorta, who succumbed to breast cancer, served as an elected councilor for six terms from 1992 to 2001, and again from 2004-to present. She was also elected as PCL-Pangasinan Chapter executive vice president- Pangasinan in 2007-2010 then became the interim president of the group and served the 7th SP from July to September 2010.

“I remember a kind and caring woman with the ability to serve her constituents,” said Board Member Raul P. Sison, who was also the president of PCL-Pangasinan Chapter from 2007-2012.

“…our dear Interim Board Member Aisa Villacorta…had shown exemplary kind of leadership and knowledge in the deliberate discussions in this chamber,” said Board Member Jeremy Agerico Rosario.

The resolution also extended condolences to the family of Villacorta.–Johanne R. Macob
