NEGROS ORIENTAL EXPERIENCE

LINGAYEN—The provincial government is tapping the province of Negros Oriental for assistance in improving the implementation of the integrated taxation management system (iTAX).

Under Resolution No. 1529-2012 , approved by Sangguniang Panlalawigan last week, the provincial board has granted Gov. Amado Espino Jr. the authority to enter into a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) with the provincial government of Negros Oriental for the project.

The resolution provides that Negros Oriental, headed by Governor Roel Ragay Degamo, will give Pangasinan the following: iTAX software free of charge; conduct training and supervision of the Provincial Information Technology (IT) Personnel and End-Users such as but not limited to comprehensive users training on additional features of the iTAX software, network administration, database administration, GIS administration; and assist with iTAX technical personnel (on call/ onsite) by creating and iTAX Regional Support Center.

Pangasinan, for its part, will have to create a Provincial iTAX Trust Fund to collect maintenance fees from municipalities in the province using the iTAX system, pay the corresponding fee to the Province of Negros Oriental, and designate an iTAX Provincial Coordinator who will supervise the iTAX IT team and other iTAX concerns.

The resolution is authored by Board Member Clemente Arboleda Jr.–Johanne R. Macob
