Dagupan “Brigada Eskwela” top performers cited

THE Department of Education (DepEd) saved some P10 million with the implementation of the “Brigada Eskwela” in May this year before the 2012-2013 classes opened.

This was disclosed Wednesday by Dr. Edilberto Abalos, program education supervisor of the City Schools Division, during the awarding ceremony for top implementers in the city ‘s “Brigada Eskwela” at the Pogo-Lasip Elementary School.

Vice Mayor Belen Fernandez handed the awards to the winners, including Mamalingling Elementary School, first place; Mangin Elementary School, second place; and Bliss Elementary School, third place, for the small school category.

Winners for the big school category are Local Elementary School, first; Malued Elementary School, second; and Carael Elementary Schoo, third. East Central Integrated School was given exceptional award for being Hall of Famer nationwide under the Brigada Eskwela.

For the secondary schools, the winners are Salapingao National High School, first; and Carael National High School, second, for the small school category; and Bonuan National High School, first; and Dagupan City National High School, second for big school.

The top performing schools, divided into categories, will represent Dagupan in the regional assessment for the “Brigada Eskwela“, the regional winner of which will compete with other schools nationwide.

The evaluation included impact of the program on each school as well as the official submission of the number of enrollment registered this school year.

The P10 million savings of DepEd from “Brigada Eskwela” were measured in terms of the number of volunteers and materials donated by members of the communities for the school repairs.

The East Central Integrated School in Dagupan is already a Hall of Famer Nationwide having garnered the national awards in 2011, 2010 and 2009, noted Abalos.
