‘Be excellent’, graduate school studes urged
DOCTOR Catherine B. Velasco, a consultant of the Region I Medical Center, advised the officers of the Lyceum Northwestern University Graduate School Association “to shun plagiarism at all times and adhere to the highest tenets of education.”
“We ask you to aspire for excellence and yet performing or living the highest educational, ethical and moral standards,” she told the LNU GSA officers induction at the Presidents Hotel last September l6.

The former dean of the LNU college of tourism and president of Binalatongan Community College said: “recently, we heard reports of plagiarism involving key personalities in both public and private institutions; we don’t advise our students to copy works from others either deliberately or simply not doing proper citation.”
Velasco stressed, “Be examples, be good models of your classes… As graduate student, you have a certain degree of obligation to understand a higher kind of learning complemented by a higher degree of maturity and professionalism ought to be shown and reflected as you deal religiously with your subjects and complete passionately various papers and researches.”
“It is this kind of culture that the officers will help create in the graduate school. With you helping LNU lead the way, we can assure that you and your fellow students get a school experience that is not just for the books but for life,” she said.
