Suspect in killing of barangay kagawad surrenders
THE suspect in the brutal slaying of a barangay councilman of Gueset, Mangaldan has surrendered to the police on the evening of December 29.
The victim, Danilo Evangelista, 31, also manager of the Globe Telecom Center in Nepo Mall in Dagupan City, was found at the Tondaligan Beach by a beachcomber in the early morning of Dec. 27.
Investigators who examined the body of the victim showed he sustained several stab wounds in different parts of his body, and his chest and head may have been smashed with a hard object.
Inspector John Corpuz, officer on case, told newsmen that a certain Bernardo de Vera, 19, of Paras Street in Dagupan, surrendered to the police two days later and admitted having committed the crime.
Evangelista’s family said Danilo, who drives his own car, did not go home from work on the night of Dec. 26 and his car was later found abandoned in Pogo, La Union.
Investigation showed that the victim and the suspect, together with several unidentified persons, had a drinking spree in Bonuan where the crime was committed.
