Pangasinan cops arrest most number of wanted persons
A JOB well done.
This was how the Police Regional Office 1 (PRO 1) described the performance of the Pangasinan police so far this year, citing its record of arrests of wanted persons, which was the best among all provincial offices in Region 1.
The PRO1 reported last week that the Pangasinan Provincial Police Office (PPO), headed by Senior Superintendent Rosueto Ricaforte, accounted for more than one half of the 886 total arrests throughout the region during the period January to September 2011.
The Pangasinan PPO arrested 469 wanted persons; followed by La Union, 192; Ilocos Sur, 150; and Ilocos Norte, 61.
Ricaforte recently reported before the Sangguniang Panlalawigan that the Pangasinan Police under his watch performed better than last year.
Before these arrests, Police Chief Superintendent Franklin Jesus Bucayu, PRO1 Regional Director, ordered an intensified police operation against wanted persons as ordered by Chief PNP Director General Nicanor Bartolome.
Among those arrested, 12 were classified as Most Wanted Persons (MWPs), one of whom was listed in the National Level and another ranked 11th in the Provincial Level.
MWPs have respective monetary reward for their capture.
The arrested National Level MWP was identified as Nicanor Borromeo who was wanted for the crimes of murder, arson and robbery with a reward of P1.05 million for his capture.
Meanwhile, one of the arrested MWPs in the Provincial Level was Edwin Maynes who was wanted for murder, and with a P140,000 reward for his capture.
“We are focusing on the service of warrants and we expect to arrest more of these wanted persons in the days ahead,” said Bucayu.
