A BOOK on painter Lucia Mangapit Valdez written by Dagupan-born biographer Melendrew T. Velasco is now off the press and is set to be launched on January 14.

The 200-page book, entitled Colors of Light: The Life Story and Paintings of Lucia Najera Mangapit Valdez, features Lucia’s life story and photos of a selection of her almost 100 full-color paintings, alongside poems which were written for these.

Velasco said Valdez is an inspiring and exemplary Filipina as she represented the country all over the world through her art, lectures, and charity work. She earned her degree in Education at the University of Manila and her degree in Fine Arts and Theater at the American University.

She was the first Filipina who was included in the exhibition of the Royal Institute of Oil Painter in London and the Chelsea Art Society. Traveling all over the world together with her diplomat husband, Casimiro Valdez, gave Lucia more chances to showcase her works.

The author, Velasco, is president and CEO of Media Touchstone Ventures Inc. (MTVi) and is the biographer of the Ramos and Valdez families. He currently has nine books under his authorship.
