City Council gives kapitan last chance

THE Dagupan City Council, acting as a quasi-judicial body, gave Joaquin Reyes, chairman of Barangay Tapuac, one last chance to attend its hearing in connection with the administrative case he filed against another barangay chairman, Guillermo Vallejos of Poblacion Oeste.

Reyes has again snubbed the hearing conducted by the council chaired by Vice Mayor Belen Fernandez last Monday afternoon.

Vallejos and his witnesses, showed up before the body, prompting the council to give Reyes just one more time to appear and confront the witnesses and the City Assessor, with the warning that his complaint would be dismissed should he fail to appear.

Reyes charged Vallejos for administrative lapses when the latter allegedly issued barangay clearances to supposed residents of Tapuac.

The administrative case revived the boundary dispute between Tapuac and Poblacion Oeste over a portion of Amado Street.

The city council, constituting itself as a committee of the whole, is also hearing weekly the boundary dispute between Barangay IV headed by Jose Sim and Barangay Pogo Chico of Chairman Saysi Samson.

Fernandez and members of the city council conducted an ocular inspection on the disputed boundaries after its session on Monday to help settle the boundary disputes on hand.—LM
