LINGAYEN— Murals painted by amateur artists in the perimeter wall of the Police Provincial Office (PPO) impressed and delighted Police Director General Jesus Verzosa, chief of the Philippine National Police.

“The murals depict the various activities of the Philippine National Police and how they should cooperate with the community which is part and parcel of policing in the Philippines,” Verzosa said.

Verzosa, who visited the PPO on Saturday, was guided through all the murals before he received 58 computers donated by the Pangasinan provincial government to the Pangasinan police.

Governor Amado Espino Jr., who is developing the capital town of Lingayen, into the tourism hub of Pangasinan, initiated the mural project together with Police Provincial Director Percival Barba.

The murals, centered on the theme of the PNP Integrated Transformation Program, were undertaken through a competition participated in by students, policemen and amateur art buffs.

While at the PPO, Verzosa inaugurated the first provincial PNP Service Store System that sells goods to members of the PNP and their dependents, including those who had retired, at an eight percent discounted rate.

The store will soon sell supplies and uniforms of PNP personnel as well as gasoline.—LM
