University of Luzon gets autonomous status

The University of Luzon has been granted autonomous status, the first in Northern Luzon, by the Commission on Higher Education (CHED).

Under an autonomous status, the educational institution will enjoy more independence as it will be free from regular monitoring and evaluation by CHED.

Among the privileges granted UL with its new status is being able to determine and prescribe its curricular programs as well as offer new courses/programs in the undergraduate or graduate level without securing permit from CHED.

Further, UL will also get priority in the grant of subsidies and other financial incentives/assistance from the CHED whenever funds are available.

Macarthur Samson Sr., UL president, said the school is very proud about this achievement.
