E-mail a crime in Sta. Barbara

STA. BARBARA–The police in this largely agricultural town is going ‘hi-tech’ by offering e-mail service for reporting crimes.

Superintendent Eric Noble, town police chief, said this is particularly useful for the youth who nowadays get a lot of exposure to computer applications.

“Most people these days, especially the youth, are used to doing all sorts of things via e-mail.

Here in our town, victims of crime can report incidents to the police via email address: santabarbara_pnp_panga-sinan@yahoo.com.”

The service, Noble said, can be used for reporting non-emergency crimes while those that need immediate attention and help can use the police hotline at 653-1044.

“People will also be able to e-mail pictures that could help the police,” Noble added.

The e-mail reporting service of the local police is in line with the local government’s 10-point progress agenda on order and peace and reform in governance.

Mayor Reynaldo Velasco, a retired police general, said it is also in support of the Integrated Transformation Program (ITP) of the national police at the local level.
