SAN CARLOS CITY–Cattle rustlers here seem to have been intimidated by the letters sent by Senior Superintendent Percival Barba, police provincial director, warning them to stop their illegal operations.

Superintendent Noel Vallo, city police chief here, said no instance of cattle rustling has been reported since the issuance of what he called the provincial director’s “love letters” to suspected cattle rustlers last February.

The letter, signed by Barba and delivered by the barangay chairman, indicated to the recipient, that he is being watched closely by the police on reports of his alleged involvement in cattle rustling, and is welcome to see Barba in his office for a dialogue.

San Carlos Mayor Julier Resuello, in his recent state of the city address, commended Vallo and the city police force for effectively stopping cattle rustling in the area.

Barangay Balite Sur in this city has been known to be a haven for cattle rustlers.

Vallo, however, said the police will continue to monitor because of reports that some of the suspects are reportedly moving to other places where the latter can establish new a new base for their operations.#
