WOMEN have been called upon to further expand their participation in nation-building and to push for greater equality in the roles of men and women.

Vice Mayor Belen Fernandez, speaking before members of various women organizations who attended the “Forum on Women, Ecology and Development” in observance of the International Women’s Month, noted that there has been a significant increase in the number of women leaders who excel in business and politics, proof that they can contribute much to society.

“Based on Rizal’s thoughts about the women of Malolos, I believe that us, women play a defining role about nation hood. Education, womanhood and nationhood are inextricably inseparable,” Fernandez said.

The whole-day event, held at the University of Luzon Multi-Purpose Hall on March 26, was initiated by the Local Council of Women in Dagupan City led by Aurora Samson-Reyna.
