TWO men riding tandem on board a motorcycle shot down an elementary school principal here on Monday in Barangay Payar.

The victim, Luisito Gabat Sr., 63, school principal of San Julian Elementary School and resident of Diego Silang St., was on board his Toyota Innova coming from the Payar Elementary School where he dropped off his wife Alicia at around 7:30 a.m.

P/Superintendent Frankie Candelario, the town police chief, told The PUNCH that the police has crossed out robbery as a possible motive since the victim’s possessions were not taken and other motives are now being studied.

The police are zeroing in on a sexual harassment case filed by a teacher against Gabat as possible motive. The case was dismissed by the court after the alleged victim executed an affidavit of desistance.

But Candelario said business and professional dealings of Gabat are also being looked into as possible motives.

The victim was shot at close range with a caliber .45 by the motorcycle-riding men who could not be identified as they were wearing helmets.

The two empty shells recovered by the police at the crime scene are now under ballistic testing and cross-matching. #
