A NEW building for the city police station in Dagupan will soon be constructed at the former Teachers’ Memorial hall as additional funds for the project are due for release within the month, the city police chief said.

Supt. Mariano Luis Versoza said P6million more is needed for the modifications made in the original plan, which allowed for only two storey with a funding allocation of P12 million.

The revised plan, costing P18 million, is for a 4-storey, all-glass structure, will be the first of its kind in the province.

Once completed, the city police may already qualify for upgrading from a station into a police office, independent from the provincial command and will have provision for more personnel, budget and amenities.

Fourth District Rep. Jose de Venecia allotted P3 million from his congressional funds while the Philippine National Police allocated the balance, including the additional P6 million.

The city government provided the lot measuring about 2,000 square meters.
