Manila-based Pangasinenses asked to help promote tourism industry
LINGAYEN–Gov. Amado Espino Jr. has urged kabalayens based in Manila to help promote and develop Pangasinan as a tourism destination as well as the products of small-scale industries in the province.
In his speech during the Club Pangasinense Reunion and Revival at the Alegria Lounge in Manila Pavilion on March 14, Espino said Pangasinan has many sites that are just waiting to be developed or promoted.
Pangasinan, Espino said, has “large tracts of forests, offshore lands, a long coastline, and a land area bigger than the rest of Region I, punctuated with many natural and man-made tourist attractions that can compete with the rest in the country.”
“You can pool resources and explore the many opportunities in local tourism and small-scale industries, including the development, proper packaging, and marketing of indigenous products that abound in many places around the province,” he added.
He called on club members occupying high positions in national government and other sectors of society to encourage their family, friends, and potential investors to visit the province.
The governor also announced that the provincial government is looking for investors for the planned Lingayen Gulf Cruise that will sail off the coastline of San Fabian down to Bolinao.
The cruise stopovers will include historical spots and other places of interest.
It is also seen to further boost the tourism in Manaoag as the tourists’ itinerary starts at the Our Lady of Manaoag Shrine where an organized connecting bus will take them to San Fabian for the cruise.
Club Pangasinense, Inc. (CPI) is an association of businessmen and professionals from Pangasinan whose aim is to share their resources and expertise to fellow Pangasinenses, especially the less fortunate ones.
It was revived this year and the group has realigned its objectives in order to be an active partner of the provincial government under Espino.
The partnership was formalized through the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding.-LM
