TWO graduates of the Lyceum-Northwestern University made it to the prestigious Top 10 of the November 2008 Nursing Licensure Examinations.

LNU president Dr. Gonzalo T. Duque said the the LNU graduates are Miljoyce Daligdig Cabatbat and Marissa Raposas Ferrer, who both had ratings of 86.40%.

LNU is the only university from Region 1 whose graduates were among the top 10 examinees.

“The whole LNU community is very proud of them. Once again, we have shown that we excel in this field,” Duque said.

In 2006, three LNU graduates Russel Salvador Abalos and Benedict Nevado Mayo and Melody Aoanan Aquino, were eighth and ninth place, respectively, in the Nursing Licensure Examination that year.

Cabatbat and Ferrer were honored in a motorcade around Dragoman City on February 24.

The complete list of successful examinees from LNU is on page 8-9.

Duque also congratulated the 254 other Nursing graduates who passed the licensure examination.

national chairman

Meanwhile Duque has been elected national chairman of the Private Schools Athletic Association (PRISAA).

Duque, the first national chair from Region 1, succeeds Dr. Emmanuel Angeles, who was recently appointed chair of the Commission on Higher Education.

The PRISAA was organized on February 17, 1953 through the initiative of then Bureau of Private Schools director, Dr. Manuel Carreon.

The first PRISAA Meet was held on March 8-10, 1953 at the Rizal Memorial Sports Complex in Manila.

Duque’s election came after the successful and impressive hosting of the National PRISAA Games in Pangasinan in 2006.

In 2007, Duque was also the first Pangasinense to be elected as president of the Philippine Association of Colleges and Universities, where he now sits as director.
