Ilocos Norte wins IRAA title anew
PANGASINAN IN 2ND AND THIRD
DEFENDING champion and hall of famer, Ilocos Norte, once again ruled in both the elementary and secondary divisions, bringing home its 11th consecutive title in the Ilocos Region Athletic Association (IRAA) meet which ended Friday.
Ilocos Norte, amassing 660.17 points, took commanding lead against 13 other delegations.
Pangasinan II, first runner-up in the elementary division and second runner-up in the secondary division, was second in the overall standing with 395 points, followed by Pangasinan 1 with 370 points.
Pangasinan 1, first runner-up in the secondary division and second runner-up in the elementary division, was champion in volleyball secondary, football, sepak takraw for girls secondary, basketball for secondary and table tennis as well as in arnis to place behind overall runner up Pangasinan II.
The defending champion dominated in athletics, archery sepak takraw, swimming, baseball and softball in the elementary and secondary divisions for boys and girls and volleyball in the elementary.
La Union was third runner-up in the secondary division, dominated in the boxing event, and fourth overall with 264 points, followed by Laoag with 246 points and winning in basketball elementary for girls.
Dagupan City did not fare well in the meet but captured the hearts of all athletes and other participants with its spectacular hosting of the event.
The 2010 IRAA meet will be held in the champion team Ilocos Norte’s home court.
The other delegations that competed in the meet were Ilocos Sur, Alaminos, San Carlos, Urdaneta, San Fernando, Vigan, Candon and Batac cities.—LM
